Raleigh eliminates Lady Cobras

WESSON- The Wesson Lady Cobras hosted the Raleigh Lady Lions for the second game in the best of three series of the Class 3A softball state playoffs. The Lady Cobras traveled to Raleigh Monday night for game one and suffered an 11-1 loss to the Lady Lions.

In Tuesday contest, the Lady Cobras were eliminated from the playoffs falling to the Lady Lions with a final score of 4-0

Wesson, coached by Michelle Nunnery, finishes the season with a 11-11 record, but won the Region 7-3A crown with a 7-1 record.

Raleigh 4, Wesson 0 

The Lady Lions defeated the Lady Cobras to advance to the next round of the Class 3A softball playoffs.

Winning pitcher, Braelyn Boykin tossed six strikeouts and had three walks.

Top hitter for the Lady Lions was Madison Fields with two singles. Crystal Lofton and Rashana Jordan both had a double each.

Leading fielder for Raleigh was Lofton with five outs in centerfield.

Lady Cobras’ pitcher, Amber Brinson, suffered the setback on the rubber with three strikeouts and one walk. Carrie McSweyn (1K, 1BB) pitched the seventh inning in relief for Wesson.

Top hitter for the Lady Cobras was Kayla Britt with two singles. Brinson provided a triple and Sabria Green hit a double.

Wesson shortstop, Kayla Britt, paced the Lady Cobras on defense with four outs and two assists. Shelbi Maxwell caught four outs at centerfield.
