Brookhaven Academy (0-1),  under the direction of second-year coach Blake Purvis, took on a very explosive Prentiss Christian Saints team last week, falling 39-13.

This week, the Cougars are preparing for another tough test as they visit Jackson to battle the Central Hinds Cougars.

The Raymond-based Cougars, coached by Lance Teasley, cruised past Union Academy 45-20 last week.

BA’s top offensive performer last week was senior quarterback William King with 10-of-19 passing for 70 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, senior Roger Rushing led the Cougars with eight tackles. Connor Griffin and Grant James had six stops each.

My prediction:  In a battle of Cougars, Central Hinds will win 35-21.
