WOODVILLE – Brookhaven Academy knocked off the Wilkinson County Christian Academy Rams in a pair of MAIS varsity games Thursday night.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Cougars improved their record to 7-3 with a 49-19 victory over the Lady Rams.

In boys’ action, the Cougars (4-3) feasted on the Rams to claim a 64-41 win.

Brookhaven Academy continues its road tour Saturday as the Cougars and Lady Cougars travel to Jackson to battle Central Hinds. Action begins at 3 p.m.

Lady Cougars 49, Lady Rams 19

The Lady Cougars quickly dominated the Lady Rams as they took a 33-7 lead into halftime.

In the second half, BA outscored WCCA 16-12 to secure the win.

Leah Case powered the Lady Cougars’ attack with 14 points. Sissy Byrd pumped in 10 points and was the leader on the boards with seven rebounds. Anna Grace Covington chipped in with seven points and had three rebounds. Sophie Wilson netted five points. Cameron Watson scored four points and had four rebounds. Bailey Stewart had three points and four rebounds. Anna-Michael Smith, Kailyn Jordan and Edie Riley finished with two points each.

Carmen Cavin was the top scorer for the Lady Rams with nine points. A.C. Ryan contributed four points.

BA 64, WCCA 41

BA took a 23-15 lead into halftime and never looked back. In the second half, the Cougars clobbered the Rams with a 41-26 run in the final two quarters to collect the win.

BA had three players to score in double figures as Tate Felder led the pace with 15 points. Dylan Winborne pumped in 14 points and Luke Jackson poured in 11 points. Ross Felder was the leader on the boards with seven rebounds and scored seven points. Austin Smith also scored seven points and had six rebounds. Dawson Flowers had six points and Ethan Nations finished with four points.

Hutch Holden directed the Rams’ offense with 22 points. Bennett Vannay provided five points.
