LAUREL – Brookhaven Academy captured two key division wins over Laurel Christian Friday night in District 4-AAA MAIS action.

In the girls’ contest, the Lady Cougars feasted on the Lady Lions to secure a 56-14 victory.

In boys’ action, BA clobbered Laurel Christian 48-27.

Brookhaven Academy will be in action Tuesday as the Cougars and Lady Cougars invade Natchez to battle Adams County Christian School for four games. Junior high action begins at 4 p.m., with the varsity games to follow.

Lady Cougars 56, Lady Lions 14

The Lady Cougars dominated the first quarter to claim a 26-2 lead in rout to a commanding 41-2 advantage at halftime.

In the second half, BA outscored Laurel Christian 15-12 in the final two quarters to clinch the victory.

Edie Riley powered the Lady Cougars with 15 points. Bailey Stewart contributed 11 points and had four rebounds. Anna Grace Covington and Leah Case provided seven points apiece. Kailyn Jordan scored five points. Sissy Byrd netted four points and Shelby Flumm added three points. Anna-Michaek Smith and Summer Hill finished with two points each.

Beth Chard and Lizzy Sullivan were the top scorers for the Lady Lions with four points each.

Brookhaven Acad. 48, Laurel Christian 27 

BA carried a 22-14 lead into halftime and turned up the heat on Laurel Christian with a 26-13 run in the final two quarters to secure the win.

Luke Jackson and Austin Smith directed the Cougars with 14 points each. Ethan Nations chipped in 10 points and had six rebounds. Dylan Winborne contributed eight points. Colton Watson finished with two points. Ross Felder also helped on the boards with six rebounds.

Robert Brady Pickering paced the Lions with 13 points points. John Thomas Bradley contributed 10 points.
