Daily Leader / Tracy Fischer / Wesson’s Logan Channell makes a good return in mixed doubles action against Philadelphia Wednesday.

WESSON – Led by team captain Erich Fischer’s dominant 6-1, 6-0 performance in boys singles and Kimberly San’s 6-0, 6-0 win in girls singles, the Wesson Cobras (6-1) defeated Philadelphia 6-1 at Co-Lin Wednesday.

The Region 7-3A champion Cobras also captured wins in boys No. 1 doubles, girls No. 1 doubles, mixed doubles and girls No. 2 doubles. The lone win for the Tornadoes was a 6-4, 6-2 victory by William Smith and Issac Martin in boys No. 2 doubles.

With the victory, Wesson will advance to the second round to face the winner of the first round match between Franklin County and Morton.

Boys No. 1 doubles: Ray Drane/Reid Crow (W) def. Paul Prince/Cooper Smith (P) 3-6, 6-3, (10-5).

Girls No. 1 doubles: Mary Beth Munn/Amber Brinson (W) def. Callie Garrett/JoJo Sylvester (P) 6-1, 6-2.

Boys No 2 doubles: William Smith/Issac Martin (P) def. Skyler Rasberry/Drew Hulon (W) 6-4, 6-2.

Girls No. 2 doubles: Morgan Wesley/Shaylin Green (W) def. Olivia Moore/Anjica Bose (P) 6-2, 6-2.
