Lincoln County basketball fans gathered for a Friday night showdown of division rivals at Jack Case Gymnasium as the visiting Enterprise Yellow Jackets squared off with the home-standing West Lincoln Bears.

In the varsity girls’ game, West Lincoln’s Lady Bears drilled Enterprise 43-19.

In the varsity boys’ contest, the Bears defeated the Jackets 77-56.

Both teams will resume district play on Tuesday night as West Lincoln hits the road to meet the Bassfield Yellow Jackets for three games. The junior varsity boys will tip off the action at 5 p.m. The varsity girls will begin play at 6, followed by the boys at 7:30.

Enterprise will return home to host the East Marion Eagles for a tripleheader. The junior varsity Jackets will start the action at 5 p.m. The girls’ varsity game will tip off at 6, and the boys will follow.

West Lincoln 43, Enterprise 19 

The Lady Bears came out strong on offense and built an 11-2 advantage at the end of one quarter.

Two treys by Karley Smith in the second quarter helped West Lincoln sustain the momentum and carry a 22-11 lead at halftime.

Enterprise (8-13, 0-6) never threatened in the second half as the Lady Bears cruised to victory.

West Lincoln (5-15, 3-2) was sparked by Hanna Moak’s 10 points. Heather Moak and Destiny Allen fired in eight points apiece to contribute to the Lady Bears win.

“It’s very disappointing that my girls didn’t show up to play tonight,” said Enterprise head coach Jill Nations.

The Lady Jackets were directed offensively by Kristin Jergins’ seven points.

West Lincoln 77, Enterprise 56 

It was obvious that West Lincoln’s Keshaun London came to play Friday night against Enterprise.

West Lincoln’s sophomore guard drained all 14 of his points in the first quarter as the Bears sprinted out to an early 18-10 lead after one quarter of action.

West Lincoln continued to put the pressure on the Jackets in the second quarter, forcing numerous turnovers, which led to easy baskets as the Bears claimed a 41-19 lead at intermission.

Enterprise (7-14, 0-6) outscored the Bears 25-15 in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late as the Bears (18-3, 5-0) remained undefeated in district play.

Duane Marshall’ was the offensive leader for West Lincoln with 19 points. Sid Griffin added 12 points and Javian Mackabee swished 10 points for the Bears.

John Gray paced Enterprise with 20 points and seven rebounds in the loss. Forrest Scott chipped in 11 points for the Jackets.

West Lincoln finished the game with 10 three-pointers.

In junior varsity action, the Lady Bears and Jackets captured a split.

In the girls’ contest, the Lady Bears defeated the Lady Jackets 26-18. Lillianne Rushing sunk nine points to lead West Lincoln. Sara Jane Doty followed suit with seven points for the Lady Bears. In the loss, Enterprise was led by Adrienne Byrd’s seven points.

In the boys’ action, Enterprise shaved West Lincoln 34-33. Patrick Scott fired in nine points to lead Enterprise. Zach Hodges scored eight points and Jontavious Smith added seven in the win for the Yellow Jackets. West Lincoln was led by Jason Watts’ 14 points. Zekenith Porter and Seth Bivens each scored seven points for the Bears in the loss.
