WESSON – The Co-Lin Lady Wolves tennis team defeated Northeast Mississippi 7-2 and fell to the Itawamba Lady Indians 8-1 in recent tennis action.

Against the Northeast Lady Tigers, the Lady Wolves took four of six singles matches and swept all three doubles matches. Sophomore Courtney Watts of Brookhaven defeated Haley Brown at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-0. Melody Smith of Brookhaven defeated Hannah Billingsley 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2. No. 4 Allie Dear of Florence defeated Nikki Baird 6-3, 6-1. Freshman Caroleah Briser of Brookhaven defeated Lindsey Clark 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6.

The Lady Tigers picked up two wins in singles action. Erica Whitten defeated Savannah Brister of Brookhaven 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3. At No. 5 singles, Allison Wiltshire defeated Erika Dear 6-3, 6-4.

In doubles action, Watts/Smith defeated Brown/Billingsley 8-0 at No. 1. At No. 2, Smith and partner Allie Dear defeated Whitten/Baird 8-1. In the closest match of the day, Erika Dear and Caroleah Brister defeated Downs/Whiltshire 8-5.

The Itawamba Lady Indians defeated the Lady Wolves 8-1. The lone win for Co-Lin came at No. 3 singles. Savannah Brister defeated Anna Clair Griffin 6-3, 3-6 (10-7).

Co-Lin will host Northwest Mississippi on Friday, Feb. 28, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
