The Brookhaven Academy Cougars (4-2) completed a four-win week after a 10-0 shutout of the Bowling Green Buccaneers behind the pitching and five RBI night, including a second inning grand slam, from senior Bailey Warren.

Zach Dickerson also had a homerun in the second inning contributing to the Cougars cause.

Landon Nettles capped off the offensive explosion with a fifth inning walk-off blast off the scoreboard in left-center field to close the book on the Buccaneers.

“Our hitters had great approaches at the plate tonight.” Said BA head coach Casey Edwards. “We talked about going out and taking care of business tonight and that’s what these guys did. We’re improving each game.”

Warren pitched 4 innings of shutout ball scattering just three hits and striking out 6 before turning it over to Michael Fiorella to shut down the Bucs in the final frame.

Additional offensive support for the Cougars was provided by Jacob Boyd, Nettles and Dickerson with two hits each. Heath Hickman and Alex Smith both added singles to the Cougar cause.

In junior varsity action, behind a first inning home run from freshman Madison Smith and solid pitching from Taylor Freeny, the BA JV Cougars held off a late rally from Bowling Green to secure a 2-1 victory. Freeny pitched the complete game striking out seven in five innings of work.

William King had two hits adding support to Cougar total. Carter Culbertson, Dylan Winborne and Freeny each had singles for BA on the night.

BA will be back in home action Tuesday evening with two games on schedule verses Centreville Academy. JV first pitch is scheduled for 5 pm.
