Butler signs with Meridian

Lexie Butler is taking her softball talents to the next level. Loyd Star’s center fielder has signed a softball scholarship with the Meridian Community College Lady Eagles.

Butler, signed her official scholarship papers last week at Loyd Star. She is the daughter of Tim Butler.

Currently in her senior year, Butler has a .419 batting average for the Lady Hornets. She accounted for 12 RBI and 6 doubles. In center field, she is averaging a fielding percentage of .882.

“Lexie Butler has become an integral part of our team over the past few years,” said Loyd Star coach Jan Delaughter. “She has worked hard to improve her fastpitch skills. She is a strong hitter as well as a slapper and she possesses great base running ability. Butler will be an asset to Meridian’s lineup.”
